Tata Power explores geothermal & solar power in Gujarat

PROJECT | Tata Power explores geothermal & solar power in Gujarat

India’s Tata Power Company Limited is set to explore Gujarat’s potential to house its prospective power plants. Tata Power has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the government of Gujarat to examine the possibility of setting up two power plants -- one geothermal and one solar -- in the region, each targeted to generate 5 MW of power.

Prasad Menon, Managing Director of Tata Power, said, “We are happy about this strategic partnership with Government of Gujarat. This partnership not only strengthens our renewable portfolio but also creates opportunities to expand our presence in the growing renewable energy market in India. We look forward to the synergistic opportunities that the alliance presents us.”

Tata Power has an installed generation capacity of over 2,300 MW. The energy company is involved in the generation (thermal, hydro, solar and wind), transmission, distribution and trading segments of the power sector.
