Energy program of the Philippines gains support

REGULATION | Energy program of the Philippines gains support

The Department of Energy (DOE) and Chevron Geothermal Philippines Holdings, Inc. (CGPHI) has signed a Pledge of Commitment in support of the National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Program (NEECP).

In a media release issued by DOE, it was documented that CGPHI will implement the government’s energy program in all their facilities. Under the leadership of President and General Manager Antonio F. Yee, CGPHI will come up with NEECP-compliant company policies. They will also permit the DOE’s Energy Utilization and Management Bureau-Energy Efficiency and Conservation Division (EUMB-EECD) to undertake energy audits in CGPHI’s offices and operations. CGPHI will subsequently apply the audit report recommendations geared towards efficient energy management.

DOE’s role in the agreement is to provide support services to the company through the Energy Utilization and Management Bureau-Energy Efficiency and Conservation Division. Secretary Reyes said, “The EUMB-EECD will provide technical energy management assistance such as capacity-building training seminars on energy auditing procedures, use of auditing instruments, best practices on energy efficiency and conservation measures and energy consumption monitoring. We hope that with this commitment from Chevron, other energy and power companies will soon follow suit to implement energy efficiency and conservation in their organizations.”
