POWER UTILITY | AREVA consortium wins a $120M contract in Indonesia

A consortium formed by AREVA has been awarded a US$166.7 million contract by PT PLN, the Indonesian Public Electric utility.

PT Multifabrindo Gemilang, an Indonesian electrical equipments contractor, is AREVA Transmission and Distribution division's partner in the consortium.

Through this contract, AREVA will modernise the Indonesian network in line with the "10 GW Generation program" launched in 2006. This turnkey contract includes delivery of several high voltage substations as well as underground electrical cables, in order to distribute power to the main Java cities such as Jakarta, Bandung and Surabaya. This project supports the government's ambitious program to increase access to electricity for Indonesians within reliability and continuity of power supply.

"In a highly competitive market environment, we are delighted to contribute to this major project which represents a great step towards the modernisation of the Indonesian electrical network," said Michel Augonnet, Executive Vice President for the Systems business unit of AREVA T&D.
